Policy & Billing

  • Patient Privacy and Confidentiality: Dr. Akoun is committed to ensure that protected health information is never compromised. During the course of treatment, communication with an individual’s medical or mental health providers may be necessary. However, confidential information will neither be given nor obtained from providers without your consent. In an emergency situation or when required by law, exchange of information may occur between Dr. Akoun and other providers without consent, per Federal and State regulations. 

  • Contacting your Provider: Dr. Akoun’s preferred method of contact is email. Please use email for non-urgent matters, including medication refill requests. For urgent concerns please use Dr. Akoun’s office number. For emergencies, including safety concerns, proceed to your nearest emergency room or call 911. Dr. Akoun’s correspondence is expected within one business day, Monday through Friday. 

  • Billing: Dr. Akoun does not accept insurance at this time. A receipt will be provided for your visits, which can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please provide a notice of cancellation or reschedule request within at least 24-hours of your appointment. Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 24-hours in advance will result in a $250 cancellation fee.
